LEE COUNTY, NC – February 8, 2024 – In partnership with Special Olympics Lee County, Special Olympics North Carolina, and Lee County Parks and Recreation, Polar Splash and Dash is coming to town later this month.

Community members are encouraged to go “freezin’ for a reason” Saturday, February 24th at O.T. Sloan Park (located at 1420 Bragg St, Sanford) to benefit Special Olympics Lee County programming. Participants will run through fire truck blasts of icy water and be treated to hot cocoa and a baked potato bar afterwards.

Event registration opens at 2 p.m., followed by the Polar Splash and Dash at 2:30 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register online at https://bit.ly/3w8i8R7, but day-of event registrations are also welcomed at 2 p.m. The minimum amount of “raised/paid” dollars to receive an event t-shirt is $50, and there are additional prizes for larger amounts raised thereafter. Once an individual registers, they can share their link with friends and family to raise additional funds. Teams can register for the event as well – a team of five people costs $250 ($50/person).

Individuals who would simply like to make a donation for Special Olympics Lee County and not register for the Polar Splash and Dash may also do so at the website listed above.
