LEE COUNTY LIBRARIES ANNOUNCES ITS 2023 SUMMER READING PROGRAM AND INCENTIVE

Summer Reading

LEE COUNTY NC – May 31, 2023 ─ Lee County Libraries (LCL) is excited to announce that Summer Reading Programs and Incentive are back again this year.

The 2023 themed Summer Reading Program “All Together Now” kicks off on Monday, June 5, 2023 and will continue through Saturday, August 19, 2023. The Summer Reading Program is designed to encourage people of all ages in our community to get reading this summer.

The Library has added several weekly and monthly programs to keep all ages engaged and entertained all summer long. Join us for LCL Lego Days, Movies & Munchies, Adult Movie Classics, Drop-in DIY Kids Crafts, Anime Club, Book Clubs, History Clubs, Family Movie Nights, and, of course, Story Times! The Library has a full calendar and is still adding special events.

And don’t forget about the Reading Incentive — interested individuals can sign up to track their reading using the READsquared app or by going to the website: https://leecountylibrary.readsquared.com. After registering, stop by the library to pick up the registration goodie bag and return throughout the summer to redeem reading level prizes and participate in multiple in-person programs. Participants can register for the Reading Incentive any time, but we encourage you to sign up the first week and stop by for some sidewalk chalk fun and an icy treat when you pick up your registration bags.

“The Library’s Summer Reading program is one of our top programs that is looked forward to by Lee County community members of all ages,” said Beth List, Director of Library Services. “The library is dedicated to bridging the gap between the school years, and encourages adults to set the example by showing that reading is not only educational, but a really engaging and entertaining way to spend your free time!”

Get excited for the adventure of a lifetime this summer with Lee County Libraries and Page Turner Adventures. The Library is thrilled to announce the Friends of the Lee County Libraries sponsorship of Page Turner Adventures again this year. The program provides library patrons and our community with an exciting and interactive learning experience, absolutely free of charge. Come sail away to new worlds and unknown realms when you join us for Kindly Ever After this summer. Each adventure is geared towards children ages 4 through 9 and includes a mix of live-action and animated comedy shows, crafts, e-books, audiobooks, and downloadable activity books to bring stories to life as children explore original tales of cooperation, kindness, empathy, and friendship.

In the Kindly Ever After series, children will become Junior Storyologists, joining Page Turner (Nadler) in her mysterious Lighthouse Library. With help from her new assistant, Reid Moore, and Junior Storyologists from around the world, Page will use her magical Once Upon a Time Machine to explore original stories that can be enjoyed from home. Or join us at the Lee County Libraries for fun programming all summer long. Patrons have access to this exciting virtual Summer Reading Program through the READsquared app and website.

The main library branch is located at 107 Hawkins Avenue, Sanford, NC 27330, and the reopened Broadway branch is located at 206 South Main St, Broadway, NC 27505.
