SELECT ONLINE SERVICES DOWN AT REGISTER OF DEEDS
LEE COUNTY, NC – October 24, 2023 – Some online services provided by the Lee County Register of Deeds remain down following a cybersecurity event with the Greensboro-based records website vendor.
Impacted services include public online access to land/real estate records and indexes of births, deaths, and marriages. According to information from the vendor, we have no reason to believe that any sensitive or private governmental data has been compromised in any way.
Upon learning of the situation, Lee County Information Technology (IT) officials began communicating with the vendor and State cybersecurity officials. Staff is continuing to monitor the situation and await further updates from the software vendor. No other Lee County IT services are affected, and this event is isolated to this vendor’s network in particular.
The physical Register of Deeds Office, located at 1300 South Horner Blvd, Sanford, has not been affected and remains open to record documents and perform all other tasks. Please stop by, or call the office at 919-718-4585 for assistance.
