INTERLIBRARY LOANHave you ever wanted to read a book that the local library did not own? Interlibrary loan is a program where libraries can borrow books from other libraries for patrons. This is a great way to read books by your favorite author that our library does not have. Materials not available via interlibrary loan are new books published within the past year, audio books, videos, and reference books. There is a charge of $2.00 per book for this service to cover shipping and handling. Information needed to place an order is the title and author of the book, along with the patron’s name and contact telephone number and/or email address. (see interlibrary loan form) Call (919) 718-4665, ext. 5486 if you wish to make a request over the phone. You can also email your requests to the interlibrary loan department at mcernadas@leecountync.gov.
STATE LIBRARY VIDEOS VIA INTERLIBRARY LOANThe State Library of North Carolina located in Raleigh will loan videos from their collection via interlibrary loan through our library. They have a large collection of instructional, educational, and business related videos. There is a $2.50 charge per video for this service to cover our postage costs. You can search their video collection online from the link to the State Catalog on their “Video Services” page. (http://statelibrary.ncdcr.gov/reference/videos.html) (Limit search to “videorecording” on the Basic Search screen). You will need to provide the title and call number of the video you want to complete your interlibrary loan request. The maximum loan period is ten days. SUGGESTED LINKSThere is a vast amount of information available on the Internet about many subjects. Portal pages are web pages that provide links to suggested web pages, and many libraries and organizations have excellent portal pages linking to selected Internet sites.
