Call for Poetry Entries
Following the announcement of the results of the Lee County Centennial Juried Art Exhibition, the Lee County Arts Council (LCAC) will issue a call for poems (available 2/1/07) about the winning art entries. Photographs of the artworks will be provided, and entrants will select one or more as subjects.
Adult Contest:
Entry Fee: $15.00 per entry (checks in favor of LCAC)
Length: maximum of 50 lines per poem (not including title of poem and title of painting)
Deadline: March 15, 2007
Format: computer-generated (or typed); 4 copies of each entry; plain font (Times New Roman, 12 pt. preferred), plain paper
Adjudication (by non-local judges) blind—Submit a cover sheet with poet’s name and address, titles of the poems (to be different from the names of the chosen paintings), and a short bio (50 words maximum). Do not put your name on the entries, but do title your poem(s) and provide the name of the art work(s) chosen.
Prizes: First ($500), Second ($300), Third ($100); five Honorable Mentions
Student Contest (Grades 9-12):
Entry Fee: Free (one poem); additional entries ($5.00 per poem; checks in favor of LCAC)
Length: maximum of 50 lines per poem (not including title of poem and title of painting)
Deadline: March 15, 2007

LCAC will host a reception for the poets and the selected artists and a reading by the poets. Winning poems and Honorable Mentions, with copies of the winning art, will be published in In Celebration of the 2007 Centennial of Lee County: A Collection of Historical Articles and Creative Works.
