Congratulations to Marc Clark of the Lee County Department of General Services on his selection as Lee County's Employee of the Month for May 2008. Mr. Clark has been employed with Lee County since November 1, 1999 and currently serves as an Engineering Technician. As an Engineering Technician, Mr. Clark frequently works with a number of diverse groups and individuals on projects ranging from the replacement of carpet in the main library to the rehabilitation of the San Lee Park Dam. He approaches every project, no matter how small or large, with the same attention to both detail and the needs of each stakeholder. As stated in his nomination, "Marc is a dedicated employee. He frequently demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Whether dealing with a coworker or with the public, Marc goes out of his way to make sure that all concerned parties understand the issues involved and that they are stisfied with the course of action. His dedication is shown in the quality of his work and in the thought and attention to detail that he brings to every project." May Primary Election Results Online (5.6.08)The NC State Board of Elections will be releasing live election results as they are reported from their website. There are two links provided below which contain different detail levels. This new service provided by the NC Board of Elections will hopefully provide unofficial results to the public in a timely fashion, but Lee County has no way of testing the service before polls close and results are actually reported to the NC Board of Elections. Please be patient and understand that Lee County will do everything possible to get information dispersed as quickly as possible, but this service is completely managed by the NC Board of Elections. 2008 NC Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service (4.8.08)This year marks the 30th anniversary of the NC Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service that showcases North Carolina's most dedicated volunteers. Through the years, North Carolinians have proven their concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local communities. One of the five recipients will be nominated to receive the Medallion Award. A local committee evaluates the awards. This year has greatly surpassed the number of requests The Enrichment Center has had for fuel assistance. We need your support to continue to have funds available to intervene in emergency situations to ensure heat, utilities and medications are available. The Enrichment Center's Helping Fund assists over 200 indigent older adults maintain the basic necessities of life each year. The Helping Fund is funded solely by community support and 100% of your tax-deductible donation stays in Lee County to help our most frail citizens. Property Tax Listing for 2008 (1.7.08)The annual listing of all property in Lee County begins on January 2, 2008. Property owners are required to list all personal property they own as of January 1, 2008 and any improvements to real property that were made during 2007. Applications for Property Tax Relief for Elderly & Disabled persons must be filed along with required documentation no later than June 1, 2008. All other applications for exemption or exclusion and all applications for Present Use Value must be filed no later than January 31, 2008.
