Environmental Stewardship

Organizational America, both public and private, face a number of challenges intensified by factors including, but not necessarily limited to scarcity of resources, rising fuel and energy costs, and public opposition to the construction of new solid waste disposal facilities.  If modern organizations are going to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs, they must find ways of operating that balance environmental, social and economic concerns.  With this in mind, Lee County Government has established an Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) to develop long term strategy to meet these challenges, improve operational efficiency and control and to improve a safer and healthier workplace for its employees.  This strategy includes a written policy outlining Lee County’s environmental priorities.  These priorities, or areas of concern, include:  Building Management and Energy Conservation, Construction and Renovation, Fleet Management and Fuel Conservation, and Waste Reduction/Recycling and Purchasing Practices.
