CLIENT COOPERATION

In order for our office to be successful in assisting you, we need your cooperation in providing accurate information, keeping us informed of changes in your circumstances, responding to correspondence, keeping appointments, appearing in court and informing the agency of any court action for support you may have taken. It is most important that you inform us of any changes in your address and telephone number. If you are receiving Public Assistance, failure to cooperate may result in reduction and eventual termination of your grant. The agency may also file legal action against you. If you do not receive public assistance, failure to cooperate may result in your case being closed.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The information in a child support case file is the property of the agency, not of the client or non-custodial parent. Only information that is a matter of public record, or that is relevant to the disposition of the case may be shared with the client and/or non-custodial parent. Information will not be provided unless a written release for disclosure of case information is signed.

DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPORT PAID

All child support is paid to the NC Child Support Centralized Collections Office. If the non-custodial parent is making support payments on multiple court orders, payments will be split among all cases. Non Public Assistance clients may elect to receive payments by Direct Deposit or check. Public Assistance clients will not receive a child support check in addition to the public assistance grant. You may check status of payments by calling 1-800-922-9457 or visit the North Carolina Child Support Enforcement web site.
