ENFORCEMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT ORDERS

Establishing a child support order does not guarantee that the non-custodial parent will pay support. The agency uses the following remedies to ensure payment of support:

  • Income Withholding: the employer is required to deduct a specific amount from the non-custodial parent’s paycheck each pay period
  • Billing Statements: monthly billing statements are sent when the non-custodial parent is self-employed or not under income withholding
  • Court Action (Show Cause): when the non-custodial parent is not paying support as ordered, he/she is required to come in to court and explain the reason for non-payment
  • Liens: can be attached to real property owned by the non-custodial parent
  • Credit Bureau Reporting
  • License Revocation
  • Tax Intercept
