Animal Services

Mission Statement


The Lee County Animal Shelter is an open door, county facility committed to protecting animals from harmful conditions, and to protecting the citizens of the community from stray, unvaccinated, and dangerous animals. Along with the stray animals we pick up, we take every domestic animal that comes to our door; young, old, sick, or injured.

Goals

  • Educate and enforce state rabies vaccination laws and ordinances
  • Enforce county and city ordinances
  • Pick up stray and viscous animals
  • Handle animal bite investigations
  • Handle rabies investigations 

Services

  • Public Safety dealing with domestic animals
  • Two rabies vaccination clinics per year
  • Times and dates advertised in Sanford Herald 30 days before clinic
