The County of Lee Transit System
   
The County of Lee Transit System (COLTS) is a coordinated transit system that provides transportation services for the general public and human service agencies in Lee County.

The mission of COLTS is to provide safe and reliable transportation to the citizens of Lee County.

Description of Extended Hours for COLTS

Transportation Available for Covid 19 vaccines – call 919-776-7201 Ext. 2219 to schedule the ride.  Call the Lee County Public Health Department first to schedule the vaccine – 919-842-5744 - tell them you will be a COLTS passenger – then contact COLTS to schedule your ride.

Current agencies & organizations that contract with COLTS to provide services for their customers include:

Department of Social Services, Public Health Department, Senior Services, Lee County Industries, Skilled Nursing Centers, Central Carolina Hospital, Sandhills Center for Mental Health, Retirement Facilities, Central Carolina Community College, Group Homes, Vocational Rehabilitation.

Lee County Transportation Advisory Board and Governing Body

The Lee County Transportation Advisory Board meets quarterly the third Thursday in January, April, July and October at 9:00 am at the Enrichment Center of Lee County.  The public is invited to attend.

HOW TO USE COLTS

Passengers who are customers of a human service agency should contact the sponsoring agency to reserve their ride. Qualifications vary among agencies in Lee County. All reservations require 2 business days notice.

If you or someone you know have special transportation needs, call the human service agency that you think is appropriate or call the COLTS office. We will assist in determining eligibilty for services through agencies that contract with COLTS.

RIDE IS AVAILABLE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC

COLTS vehicles travel daily Monday through Friday throughout the Sanford City limits and Lee County. If you need a ride and we can pick you up without veering too far from our established routes, we will be happy to assist. Contact our office for the current fee schedule, 919-776-7201.

PREPAY BY PURCHASING VOUCHERS

For your convenience, vouchers are available so that you do not need to rely on cash as payment when riding with COLTS.

TRANSPORTATION FOR MEDICAL NEEDS

Transportation for medical purposes is available to the general public for services to local medical facilities and offices.  Contact COLTS to schedule your ride and determine the fee schedule – 919-776-7201. 

Out-of-county medical services for the general public can be arranged when COLTS vehicles have scheduled out-of-county trips for contractors and Medicaid recipients. Contact our office for space availability and the current fee schedule, 919-776-7201.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED

COLTS has lift vans available for physically challenged persons who are in wheelchairs or have mobility concerns.

NEED A RIDE TO WORK?

Do you have a new job and need transportation? COLTS can also transport you and your child for daycare drop off and/or pick up around your work hours! COLTS vans operate 7:30 a.m.—5:00 p.m. in general, Monday—Friday. Early morning rides may be available for selected routes. Call 919-776-7201 for details.

HOURS OF OPERATION

COLTS business and general operation hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cancellation messages can be left on the voicemail machine after hours.
