Meadow
Is a large open outdoor space located across the meadow creek. This area is ideal for weddings, church services, and company picnic activities.
No chairs or tables at this site. This facility must be rented at least 3 business before event.

Amphitheatre
Is a small outdoor theatre with wooden benches. It is located next to the lake beside boat dock operations and has a great view!
It seats approximately 50 people. (Please keep in mind boat dock hours are 1-6pm Sat. & Sun.)

Tent Campgrounds
Campsite rentals must be made online or at the Parks & Recreation Office located at 2303 Tramway Road, Sanford NC 27332 at least 72 hours in advance. Must be 18 years or older or accompanied by an adult. A driver’s license or similar identification is required for registration and Check in. There are 10 sites available, the park provides tent sites (one tent per site), tables, charcoal grills, water, and a shower house. Campsites are located in a private section of the park close to the lake. No nighttime activities allowed campers must stay at their campsite. Please check in at the nature center before 4pm and check out at 11am. This facility must be rented at least 3 business in advance.

SCOUT PROJECTS

Over the years, Boy & Girl Scout projects have provided San-Lee Park with many needed improvements. A new bridge for the meadow, amphitheater, and trails are examples of scout projects. There is also a new roof on the valve house located on the lake and renovation of the amphitheater at the paddle boat dock. Cost of building materials for projects is covered through donations and guidelines are regulated by the Boy & Girl Scouts of America. Build your future & make a lasting impression! NATURE CENTER
 
See your wild neighbors up close and learn more about them. The Nature Center is located in San-Lee Park, it houses live native, non-releasable wildlife in the forms of mammals, reptiles, fish, and birds of prey. The address to the Nature Center is 760 Pumping Station Road.  Use the entrance above the main entrance into San-Lee Park.


INJURED/ORPHANED WILDLIFE

Please do not drop animals off at the park. If you find an injured or orphaned wild animal you can go to www.ncwildlife.org, In the "At your service" box, select "Have a Problem?", click the tab "Injured/Orphaned Wildlife" and then select a county. Please do not drop off animals at the park. Please note that it is illegal to keep in your care any wildlife without the proper permit from the state government (and sometimes the federal government).


ROD, REEL, AND TACKLE LOANER PROGRAM

Kids who don’t have parents who fish or money to buy equipment can check out a rod, reel and tackle to give “America’s #1 Sport” a try. Zebco 33 classic rods and reels will be provided for check out, along with a tackle box, tackle and a how-to-fish booklet. Parents must fill out a registration form then a checkout card will be issued.

COMMUNITY FISHING PROGRAM

The Lee County & North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission provides opportunities for urbanites, especially the young, elderly, and physically challenged, to enjoy the pleasures and benefits associated with the fishing experience. The fishing program is year round, during park hours and is available to all ages, male and female. Fishing piers and bank fishing are available. Lakes have been stocked with over 70,000 fish in the past 10 years. Fishing licenses are required by State Law through the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission,, or by calling 1-888-248-6834 or 919-707-0391. Licenses can be purchased, along with tackle and supplies, at several places in Lee County. (Wal-Mart, Jackson Brothers and Broadway Hardware).

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS

This trail measures approximately 12 miles long, and winds around the entire park's perimeter. It is perfect for moderate to difficult rider. Trail usage is during park hours. Please use designated parking area for Mountain Biking riders. 
***Please be sure to be back at parking lot 15-30 minutes prior to park closing when using Nature and Mountain Bike Trails! Check park closing hours!***


GEOCACHING
Geocaching is a relatively new game that is growing quickly in popularity. It can be compared to a high tech scavenger hunt, using “GPS” technology in order to find hidden treasures. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to spend time in the great outdoors with friends or family. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the Internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. The visitor should leave something for the cache if they take something. There are several cache sites located in Lee County, please contact San Lee Park to obtain a geocache placement application and the policies associated with the placement of a geocache site. Geocaching:

Parks & Recreation allows geocaching in the Lee County Parks & Recreation system under the following conditions: A Geocache Placement Permit must be completed and approved by the Director of Parks & Recreation or her/his designee prior to the placement of the cache.

• Permits are renewable annually during the month of February.
• Caches shall be placed not more than 50 feet off any designated trail.
• Caches shall not be placed in campgrounds, playgrounds, picnic areas, in any body of water or any water structure.
• Caches shall be clearly labeled as a geocache. Contact information should be listed on the outside of the cache as well as the name of the cache as listed on the www.geocaching.com Web site.
• Caches are not to contain food, alcohol, drugs, or items that would be considered to be offensive, dangerous, or illegal.
• When placing caches, no digging or disruptive disturbance of the grounds are allowed. No caches may be placed in environmentally sensitive areas.
• Any caches not in compliance with this policy will be removed.
• Lee County Parks & Recreation reserves the right to remove caches that cause any adverse impact on the park system.
