LEE COUNTY CELEBRATES FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH FIRSTHEALTH PROVIDING EMS SERVICE
LEE COUNTY, NC — October 19, 2022 — FirstHealth of the Carolinas celebrated one year of providing emergency medical services (EMS) in Lee County on October 1. Throughout the first year of service, Lee County Government in partnership with FirstHealth has worked diligently to assess the needs of the community and implement new ways to enhance service in all areas of the County.
To ensure our public safety systems continue to meet the growing needs of Lee County, data is continually analyzed to identify service needs for quality assurance. In the spring of 2022, data collected since the beginning of FirstHealth Lee County EMS operations showed continual increase in emergency calls for service, making the addition of a fifth vehicle a necessary step toward continued improvements in emergency medical response. The fifth vehicle was brought online October 1, 2022.
Lee County Government has also authorized the use of grant funds for the purchase of six Lucas CPR machines to be utilized on EMS vehicles to provide lifesaving support for cardiac arrest patients.
In 2023, FirstHealth plans to work with 911 communications to purchase and integrate GPS technology capable of identifying the nearest truck available to a 911 call to provide even more efficient response.
It is Lee County’s goal to strive for the highest level of public safety services to the citizens of the County. Lee County ensures these goals are met though continual evaluation, data analyses and successful partnerships.
